From the Farm
Rooted in the land. Crafted by hand. Guided by the seasons.
Every jar, balm, soak, and spray from The Bitter Shed begins on our farm — Lady Cone Hop Yard — a woman-run farm rooted in regenerative and organic practices. We grow with intention, care for the soil, and let the seasons lead the way.
What started as a hop yard supplying local breweries transformed into something more. Working with hops every season — growing them, harvesting them, breathing them in — we began to see their calming strength and their deep connection to rest and recovery. From there, the garden became more than a harvest — it became the foundation of what we craft.
Alongside our hops, we grow a wide range of seasonal vegetables — peppers, tomatoes, greens, squash, zucchini, garlic, and herbs — and a collection of botanicals chosen for their soothing, restorative, and aromatic qualities: lavender, echinacea, yarrow, chamomile, peppermint, lemon balm, catnip, and eucalyptus. We also harvest raw honey, used in many of our formulas for its natural healing and skin-repairing properties.
Our farm is cared for by three women working side by side — each bringing her own skills to the land, and all building something together. Every ingredient is grown, gathered, and infused by hand, then made into small-batch, seasonal skin and bath care that reflects the rhythm of the land itself.
Additional ingredients are sourced from local farms and ethical organic growers — so what heals the body never harms the environment.
What we grow is what we give back.
